TKS® 406B Key Benefits & Technical Excellence
Military-Grade CertificationFully compliant with UK Ministry of Defence DTD 406-B specifications, guaranteeing aviation-grade quality and operational reliability under the most demanding flight conditions. |
Advanced Glycol FormulaSpecially engineered glycol-based compound dramatically reduces water freezing points on aircraft surfaces, maintaining critical aerodynamic efficiency throughout winter operations. |
Worldwide Industry StandardEstablished as the international benchmark for weeping wing technology, trusted by commercial operators and private aviators across every continent worldwide. |
Practical Twin-Container DesignPackaged as 2 x 10-litre containers per box, offering superior handling convenience with reduced individual container weight for easier pilot and maintenance crew refilling operations. |
Understanding TKS® Ice Protection Technology

TKS® technology protects your aircraft by uniformly distributing a freezing point depressant solution throughout the airframe's exterior surfaces, effectively preventing ice accumulation on essential aerodynamic components.
The fluid delivery system operates through precision laser-drilled titanium panels positioned at leading edge locations – including wings, horizontal and vertical stabilisers, propeller assemblies, and windscreen areas. These microscopic perforations create a protective film that prevents ice formation (anti-ice function) or eliminates existing ice deposits (de-ice function).
System operation features two selectable modes: NORMAL flow rate provides preventive anti-ice protection when entering forecasted icing conditions, whilst HIGH flow rate delivers enhanced de-ice performance when ice has already begun forming. Cockpit-mounted controls enable pilots to adjust protection levels throughout changing meteorological conditions.
Compared to conventional pneumatic de-ice boot systems requiring ice formation before activation, TKS® provides continuous preventive protection, significantly reducing pilot workload whilst improving safety margins during instrument meteorological condition operations.
